It’s never too late to realise your potential: that’s the essential message of Heddy Edwards’ songwriting project, which is something she put off doing for years out of fear. Now in her thirties, this Virginia artist isn’t holding back as you’ll hear in her powerful new single ‘Cinematic vision’. Combining 90s pop softness with 00s alt-rock undertones and contemporary melodies, this track reaches out to the listener with an emotional immediacy informed by Heddy’s life experience. Produced by Alan Day and mastered by Jay Maas, this silver-screen perspective is slightly blurred at the edges yet those lyrics are crystal clear in their intention.
Heddy sings with an aching sentimentality about the shoulds, woulds, maybes and hopefullys of life. Her voice is breathy, soaring and tinged with a southern warmth that pulls the listeners closer into her personal narrative. While she navigates loss and missed connections, there’s also the light of ambition glimmering through this swooning arrangement. ‘Cinematic vision’ is an intimate and sacred slice of honest songwriting that finds beauty in the small victories. It’s also a signal of Heddy Edwards upcoming plans, including a new EP and continuing to rebuild the connection with her audience.
“I once went ten years without writing a song out of fear, and now in my 30s, I’m preparing to release my solo-written, debut EP, ‘The Other Side of hell is a heaven so delicate.’ This first single from it, “Cinematic vision,” includes the album title as a refrain. It came to me as I was finding appreciation for ordinary moments while losing a loved one to a terminal illness. This song was produced and mixed by Alan Day (of Four Year Strong) and mastered by Jay Maas, and it was inspired by 90s-00s pop-rock and alternative music.”
