Your debut album was called IT’S NOT ENOUGH TO FEEL NOTHING! and now you’re releasing Hello, from Dreamland. How do you see the relationship between these two records?
My debut album has a lot of my heart. It was made primarily during 2020. Naturally, I went through a lot of hard life changes during that album’s creation and the world around me shaped the songs a lot. This time, I chose the world these songs are in, because it’s one I created. And it’s a beautiful world up in the clouds—full of heart still, yes, but also full of light, hope, and the ability to fly.
Why did you decide to explore a bolder, more danceable sonic territory?
I’ve always felt at home in electronic music—I’ve always felt that it’s a hack for the body and mind. What I mean is it taps into something in the brain and heart that no other genre does. Maybe it’s because we are inevitably moving when we listen, or because sometimes it’s so big it’s almost scary. I don’t pretend to know why I feel it the most, but I do know it’s the way I wanna share messages with the world.
How has your life in Nashville, as well as experiences outside of the city like in Australia, shaped your sound?
Nashville has showed me that having like-minded friends around is so good for your heart. I wouldn’t trade anything for my city of ridiculously-talented friends. We cheer each other on, and in this industry? That’s family. Traveling always makes me realize there are infinite ways of doing things—there are no rules or right answers in creating. Dropping myself in other places on the literal other side of the world and meeting new people eventually always make me think “I can’t wait to write a song about this.”
Which song from your new album are you most excited to bring to a live audience?
Lighterfly. It’s the theme-song of my heart I can’t wait to see it echo.
What do you hope listeners feel when they step into your dreamland?
Free to step into their own.
What’s next for the project?
Tour in the Spring, and lots I can’t say yet.
