Zack Morris’ ‘Good Enough’ explores self-doubt and acceptance

What does it mean to be “good enough”? Is it a quiet acceptance of the way things are, a niggling dissatisfaction with our circumstances, or is it a frank reality that we are indeed good and enough? These questions, as well as similar ones, have plagued many of us at one time or another. Putting voice to this relatable experience is singer-songwriter Zack Morris with his aptly named ‘Good Enough’. This track puts vulnerability at the forefront, exploring the feeling of losing oneself to fear, worry and uncertainty.

Reminiscent of artists like Lewis Calpaldi, Zach Bryan and Alec Benjamin, ‘Good Enough’ is a flawless fusion of indie-folk, acoustic pop and anthemic production. Opening with tender strings and warm keys, the song invites the listener into this atmospheric space where Zack’s sincere vocals unpack life’s in-between moments. The songwriter gradually moves from self-doubt to self-belief, and as he does so the track also builds in confidence with electric guitar swoons, propelling percussion and uplifting backing harmonies. It all culminates in a truly cathartic experience, one that might not offer an instant solution, but it sure does make you feel better.

“During different periods of my life, I’ve felt overwhelmed by anxiety that comes from the feelings of disbelief and being unsatisfied with where I’m at in my life, and if I’ll ever become the person I believe I can become. I wrote this song for anyone who feels the same way, to help them believe they can become someone better.”
