Following the recent release of Hannahbella’s single ‘Dainty Fae’, this promising artist takes a fearless plunge with her new EP, Parasite. Blending glitchy hyper-pop with raw alt-rock intensity, the EP delivers an electrifying sonic whirlwind, both haunting and euphoric. Under the expert touch of acclaimed producer Jessica Richardson, Hannahbella crafts a soundscape that pulses with emotion, turning internal struggles into anthemic catharsis.
From the jagged edges of anxiety to the eerie echoes of grief, the five tracks surge and shift, mirroring the unpredictability of human emotion. Beneath the turbulence lies a thread of resilience, a flicker of hope refusing to be extinguished. The production is masterfully unpredictable, weaving distorted beats with shimmering synths and explosive alt-rock energy, making for an experience that feels both intimate and larger-than-life. Hannahbella’s fearless lyricism and evocative melodies solidify her as a genre-defying force, pushing boundaries while offering listeners a mirror into their own emotional landscapes. The Parasite EP is a visceral, necessary listen.
“‘Parasite’ is an exploration of the darker, uncomfortable sides of the human experience- those unwanted feelings and thoughts we often try to suppress. The EP dives into the depths of depression, anxiety, eating disorders, grief, loneliness and love, offering a raw and honest space for these emotions to breathe and be confronted. I think it’s so important to honor how we feel/react as people because we need to nurture ourselves. You’re stuck with yourself so why not try to understand and learn so you can be the best you? I love to play with point of view and structure because no matter how straight forward things may seem, sometimes our thoughts and feelings don’t catch on! It’s never linear. Throughout the heaviness of each track, there’s a thread of resilience and hope, a belief that things can get better! With ‘Parasite’, I aimed to create something beautifully and purposefully chaotic, sonically mirroring the internal struggle of finding peace within the mess. I Collaborated with some incredibly talented individuals, making Parasite not just a personal journey, but a collective one. It’s an EP that doesn’t shy away from the ugly, but instead embraces it, purging and healing in it’s own way. I hope those who listen find a piece of themselves and can picture their own parasites and feel a little less insane haha!”
