Since their inception in 2020, Lucky Iris has had a meteoric rise. Their bittersweet, electronic-tinged landscapes blend soft, melodic vocals with hyper-pop-infused synths, encouraging audiences to dance and weep in equal measure. Leeds-based alt-pop duo Maeve and Jasper, the creative forces behind Lucky Iris are taking the scene by storm once again with their scintillating new single ‘Something to Believe In’, the luminous title-track from their upcoming four-track EP. Released as a stirring unofficial anthem for England’s quest for victory at this summer’s Euros football tournament, the band recently shone on Sky News, discussing the fervor behind their latest creation.

Co-written and co-produced with PRS hitmaker Ben Matravers, ‘Something To Believe In’ reflects the duo’s knack for weaving brilliant soundscapes. As ardent football enthusiasts and accomplished musicians, Lucky Iris crafted this track as a rousing anthem to encourage victory on the pitch. Mixed by Richard Wilkinson and mastered by Antony Ryan, this track features a dazzling array of distorted analogue synths and tight beats, creating a sweeping, irresistibly danceable soundscape for Maeve’s tender, expressive vocals. Warm, whimsical, and strikingly avant-garde, the track perfectly balances commercial appeal with artistic ingenuity.

“When I’m going through a rough time there are two things I consistently turn to: Music, and football. Being a fan has always given me something to believe in when I need it. This track is our take on an anthem, an ode to the things we pour our heart into when we don’t feel like we can. For me, it’s football and pop music, so why not combine them both. There are so many parallels that can be drawn between football and music, but arguably the most obvious and important is the sense of community they both create. All you have to do is pick someone to support and in return get a sense of belonging. This summer we’re team Harry Kane, and maybe you can be team Lucky Iris.”
