‘Take Me To Space’ portrays a unique artistic vision and his ability to blend electronic music with thought-provoking concepts. As Leonard Maassen prepares to release his debut album, Inside Cycles, his innovative approach promises to captivate audiences and take them on an unforgettable journey through sound and space.

“On Take Me To Space, I wanted to explore the concept of evolutionary mismatch. Shoutout to Oscar McNab (the director of the music video) for introducing me to this idea. In the digital worlds of the 21st century, we’re constantly exposed to sensory overload. This can cause anxiety and stress because our bodies are still catching up to evolve to deal with this world in a healthy way. However, digital technology also allows us to connect with each other in new, beautiful ways. I often feel torn between the benefits of digital technology and the negative aspects.

Take Me To Space seeks escape from this overwhelming world before coming to a more grounded perspective, ending on: “so, take the world into my arms”. I imagine the music to take place looking at the Earth from orbit, seeing humanity on the surface from far away. At the end we touch back down and feel the connection to the Earth again. I strongly believe that we can find ways to integrate digital technology into our lives in healthy and sustainable ways, allowing a prosperous coexistence with these new forms.

Funny story: I first imagined the heavy drum sections of Take Me To Space in a London park.  The beat was flying around in my head, and the next day when I was in the studio the music just came out, exactly how I had heard it.. I guess it really did come down from outer space…”
