Demanding your attention from the first note, Nat Oaks’ latest single ‘Hard To Forget’ is an exhilarating fusion of soulful hip-hop and alternative sounds. The artist masterfully combines a potent horn section with complex drum patterns and an undeniable electric piano groove that’s bound to have you hooked. Her infectious flows and compelling lyricism shine through with unapologetic confidence, capturing the essence of intense emotion.
In ‘Hard To Forget,’ Nat Oaks takes a bold and introspective approach to her songwriting, channeling the pain of a recent breakup into a vibrant and unforgettable track. The energy builds to cinematic proportions, creating an atmosphere that’s both emotionally charged and intoxicating. This single marks a pivotal moment in the musician’s career as she heads towards her upcoming sophomore EP. It’s clear that she’s not holding back, taking inspiration from diverse artists like Lauryn Hill, Loyle Carner, and Frank Ocean, and melding their influences into a sound uniquely her own.
“I’ve been through a lot of changes during 2023. I went to the studio still feeling quite rough about my breakup, but also didn’t want to write an inevitable sad song about it. I was super inspired by Ants Live’s hardcore, self-indulgent yet confident style and really wanted that to come through. I do believe that you can choose how to react to different situations and either let them consume you or make you. I knew I wanted a track that I could blast out of the car speakers, and I’m happy it’s this. This is the first single from my incoming sophomore EP. It’s a body of music I’m very proud of, and look forward to playing live at festivals.”
