Chatterbox: Perfectparachutepicture chat DIY, influences and live streams.

Hey Perfectparachutepicture, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today. Could you tell us something about yourself that nobody knows?

People probably wouldn’t know the level of work we put into this band aside from the music. We label ourselves as a DIY band, and that really is what we are. We liaise with agents, book our shows, design our own artwork, work first hand with distribution and every music video is built around our ideas on where we want them to go. All of this is alongside writing and practicing together most nights in the week.

What influences have gone into your sound recently?

Lyrically, our new music is very introspective. We’ve been looking at the world a lot and speak about our own lives in the world more so than anything else. Radiohead have been a good influence in the way Thom Yorke looks at the mundane things in life and how much of a huge effect that has on people.

Musically, we’re never too far away from a big riff and a stomping drum beat so we tend to go back to our riffy roots with bands like Biffy Clyro, Turbowolf, Death From Above 1979, Red Fang and QOTSA (to name a few) for inspiration in that department.

What are you currently working on?

We’re currently in the middle of a single release campaign for our latest single ‘The Stream’ which has been so well received up to now! We’ve also recently stepped into the world of live streamed gigs. Odd to say the least, but it’s been amazing to be back on stage even if it’s not to a real life audience. Knowing that people are tuning in to watch us is a great feeling.

What are your plans for the year ahead?

In the immediate future, our plans are to continue releasing new music, with a four track EP being on its way for a summer release. The singles that we’re releasing at the moment will be on the record. Plans for our next single are in full swing so follow us on social media for some imminent announcements!

Later in the year we want to be back gigging. We’ve been working with venues and have some great things planned, so again, keep an eye out on our socials for that.

Any top tips for getting through this difficult time?

While everyone’s circumstances are very different during this period of time, so of course baring that in mind, it’s important to keep doing what you do to make yourself happy. It’s been a weird and difficult time for everyone and it’s so easy to put what you love doing on hold, but you’ve got to keep going, making plans and working towards your goals, old or new.
