Australian producer cln captures the essence of nostalgia in ‘Sunbeams’

We’re always happy to hear something new from the Australian electronic music scene here at Purple Melon. That something new comes from Callan Alexander – aka cln – who has been busy sharing his digital creations over the past few months, the recent of which is ‘Sunbeams’.

As you’ll learn in the quote from cln below, the songwriter-producer set out to capture that bittersweet feeling that you get when you reflect on the past. The chilled and warm atmosphere frame this endeavor in rose-tinted glasses, warping our view of the past in the same way that memories change over time.

“When I was writing it, I was going through a bit of writers-block, so I tried to change things up a bit and write a story–not necessarily based on my own experiences but I still wanted to capture a certain emotion. I tried to paint a picture of a memory, and I wanted to capture that bittersweet feeling that you get when you dwell on past experiences. This song is about nostalgia as it tells the story of a lost friendship and the experience of exploring both the good and bad memories associated with it.”
