American born José James, also known as “the Jazz singer for the hip-hop generation”, has returned to the music scene with his solo project announcing a new album to follow up his last in 2013.
Having been recording and touring the legendary songbook for the Lean On Me project, José James has certainly not been quiet, but now is focusing his attention on his newest album due for release on March the 6th, aptly titled No Beginning No End 2.
The opening track and first single ‘I Need Your Love’ features José’s silky, satin like voice and is bathed in the type of romantic groove that the roots used to forge. Featuring a duet with Grammy nominee Ledisi, both vocals intertwine to perform a soulful display. The tuneful waves of Trumpet player Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, also a Grammy nominee, happily flows over the living beat, and is the musical icing on this rather delectable cake.
A beautiful blend of Jazz and hip-hop, this tune is soothing for the soul, not to mention, pleasing to the ear.
“I read an interview with Billie Eilish where she was talking about, I cant believe people used to think genres existed. It’s like, oh man, that’s just so nice. It was such a struggle for my generation, and others before, to kick these doors down of this genre and that, and it’s so beautiful to know there are kids who can’t even think that way.” – José James.
