Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Elliott Moy, I’m a 24 year old singer/songwriter born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. Last year I decided to give beat making and producing a shot, using the computer as my main writing tool. The creative approach was so different from my organic and instrumental music that I started a project for the new direction in sound, Esqemo.
Where did the new single come from?
“What You Want” is actually the second track off my EP “Diamond Lake”.
It all came together after one conversation with Trevor. I had the beat down and we met in a tiny practice room at Berklee and just talked it out. At the time, Trevor was going through a bad break up so it just made sense getting behind that idea. I came up with the hook, sent it over to Trevor and he laid his verse out in one session. Easiest person I’ve worked with to date.
Is there more content in the pipeline?
Always. I’ve got a studio session booked next week in Chicago where I’ll be cutting a folk single of mine called “First Time”. That, and I’ve been cooking up a couple collabs on the side. I’ve also compiled enough folk material for a full length. It’s only a matter of time before that all goes out… let’s just say I’ve been pretty busy!
What’s on the horizon for you?
I’d love to start gigging around Boston with a folk band, maybe hit the road in the future. It’s cool because I can always work the Esqemo stuff on-the-go with my laptop. I’m just happy I’m finally getting music out and that there is much more to come!
