Chatterbox: BAUM

Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.

I was born and raised in New York City – but am currently living in Los Angeles. I’ve been singing for as long as I remember, but really started writing when I was about 8 years old – hypothetical love songs, and that sort of thing. I draw a lot of my inspiration from New York – seeing artists everywhere, people from around the world, the nightlife. Moving to Los Angeles was a big change for me but in the best way possible. I’ve met so many people that have changed my life. It’s sort of felt like I’ve had the chance to start over. All of these first new experiences have really inspired my latest project.

Where did the new single come from?

My single “First” is the first song off of my upcoming EP and is really the foundation of the entire project. It’s based on the ups and downs of a first time, complicated relationship. It’s the first experience I’ve had where I fell in love with someone, and also had my heart broken in a short span of time. It’s about loving someone before the love you, taking those crucial steps in a relationship, and then questioning if the other person is putting in the same effort you are. This is such a vulnerable song for me to sing because it is still so raw and based on such a recent event. It’s wholeheartedly my real life experience playing out.

Is there more content in the pipeline?

There is! I have 2 more singles dropping this summer and an EP coming in the fall. I’m excited for people to get the full story, and I think that will come together piece by piece as more of the project comes out.

What’s on the horizon for you?

Aside from the EP, I am really focusing on curating my live show. There’s a lot of cool opportunities in that vein coming up and I can’t wait to share them with everyone.
