Hey Pia, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today. Could you tell us a little known fact about yourself?
Hey thankyou for having me first of all:) A little known fact about me is that I write down almost everything that I’m feeling. I also find it very hard to let go of old notes, photos or birthday cards.
The EP explores themes of self-discovery, heartbreak and emotional dependency. Were there any emotional truths you found challenging to confront while writng?
Good question, the biggest lesson I learned is to let go of people who use your kindness against you. Sometimes you have to accept that certain people are not worthy of your time and energy. I learned to protect my peace the hard way by having it disturbed so many times, which was very challenging to accept.
Your lyrics often use poetic metaphors and vivid imagery. Where does that visual approach to songwriting come from?
I like describing things through images and metaphors because it leaves more room for interpretation. I’m also someone who naturally thinks in visuals and I feel that approach makes the story come alive in a more personal way.
‘i know’ reflects your move to Berlin, so how did that transition shape you both personally and creatively?
My move to Berlin was very hard for me. It was the first time I was completely alone and it changed me in so many ways. I learned to become more confident and independent. Being surrounded by such a creative city inspired me a lot. It helped me discover different sides of myself and gave me a clearer understanding of what I wanted.
While ‘i know’ grapples with new phases, ‘silhouette’ considers the past. Did you find dredging up the past difficult, cathartic or a combination of the two?
Definetely a combination of both. In order for me to let go of something, I need to write down all my feelings and process them. “silhouette“ is a song about holding on to the past, which is something I tend to do sometimes. But it can also be exhausting to hold on for too long. I think it is important to appreciate the past while still allowing yourself to live in the present.
What else do you hope that listeners will take away from these songs?
I hope people can see themselves in some of these songs and get to know me a little better as an artist. I’m constantly evolving, both as a musician and as a person, and I hope listeners can connect with that journey and feel understood through my music.
What’s next for you?
Currently I’m looking ahead to a new era. I’ve been thinking a lot about my sound, my career and what I want for the future. I can’t wait to perform more and there might also be some new music soon…
