From Chloe Tsangaris’ forthcoming debut album, ‘Elephant in the Room’ is a striking sophomore single that was written in the wake of a personal betrayal and it seeks to confront that deception head-on. This bold pop-meets-rock sound is a powerful vector for the strength and vulnerability it takes to tackle these raw emotions. It’s such an empowering listen that takes notes from some of the most iconic female songwriters, like Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks, who use their penchant for sincere storytelling to connect with listeners on a deeper level. That additional 90s indie-rock grit also emphasises the sensations of urgency, resistance and desire for personal justice.
Everything about this track has been carefully constructed by a trusted creative circle who recorded it at Glasshouse Studios beneath Australia’s Mount Ngungun, a place that’s significant in Chloe’s childhood. Key to ‘Elephant in the Room’ was longtime collaborator Angus Woodhead who engineered and co-sculpted the track’s atmospheric depth, while Golden Guitar winner Brendan Radford’s electrifying guitar skills helped to transform this formerly piano-led ballad into something more expressive and expansive. Of course, at the helm was Chloe herself who took charge of the songwriting, vocals, piano, organ and executive production to ensure that her authentic artistry remained the central pillar. As Chloe approaches the release of her album, it’s clear that ‘Elephant in the Room’ is a signal of even better things to come.
“This song has been living with me for four years. It marks the beginning of the end of what I thought the rest of my life would look like and I am forever grateful that now I am able to share it while walking the path I was meant to be on.”
