Enter the surreal world of Ready, Steady, Die!’s ‘Access to Pollution’

Directed by Max Clendaniel, Ready, Steady, Die! just dropped a visual bomb with their new single ‘Access to Pollution’. The video opens with a whimsical, balloon-filled party that quickly turns into a surreal nightmare. Two balloon characters, seemingly carefree and lighthearted, engage in a twisted dance of power and control. But beneath the playful facade, a darker reality unfolds. Clendaniel masterfully uses the balloon imagery to symbolize the insidious nature of toxic relationships. Like balloons, these relationships can appear buoyant and joyful at first, but they can quickly deflate and become suffocating. The video’s visceral portrayal of emotional vampirism perfectly mirrors the song’s haunting melody and gritty synths.

‘Access to Pollution’ is a stark reminder that the most damaging pollution can be found not in the environment, but within our own relationships. Ready, Steady, Die! pushes the boundaries sonically and visually, delivering a powerful and thought-provoking statement that will leave you reeling.

“I was stuck in a traffic jam on the M25 (incidentally the motorway which inspired Chris Rea’s ‘The Road to Hell’) one day trying to come up with lyrics and melody from Morgan’s music. In the hard shoulder of the motorway there was a random sign, which just said, ‘Access to Pollution’. I started thinking about how this was quite a statement and could relate to a whole host of toxins accessible within the environment and within our relationships with each other and with ourselves”
