Danish artist NikoCorlin (aka Nikoline Corlin) has released her five-track EP, If You Can Dream It, a raw and introspective journey that blends minimalist compositions with lush synth landscapes, creating a soundscape that mirrors the emotional depth of her lyrics. It is a poignant exploration of ambition, fragile relationships, and the gender disparities within the music industry. The EP opens with a sense of vulnerability, setting the stage for Niko’s exploration of self-doubt and resilience. The standout track ‘Late To The Party’ is a scathing critique of the Danish music scene’s gender imbalance. Its infectious beat and sharp lyrics create a striking contrast that lingers long after the song ends. The song’s haunting chorus serves as a powerful reminder of the systemic challenges faced by women in the industry.
The EP’s soundscapes feature atmospheric synths, layered vocals, and delicate arrangements that complement the thematic contrasts. Tracks like ‘Lonely in the Crowd’ highlight her ability to capture feelings of isolation while maintaining a rich, ethereal sound that invites contemplation. If You Can Dream It reflects NikoCorlin’s ability to balance introspection with social commentary. The EP is a heartfelt and thought-provoking listening experience that shines due to its authenticity, emotional complexity, and unflinching exploration of difficult themes.
“Last winter, I went to New York after releasing my debut album. I locked myself in a small room for five weeks to write. The isolation was essential to drown out the noise and focus entirely on my music. I wanted to confront my self-doubt head-on and create without any outside influence.
The five songs on this EP explore the different facets of being an artist, especially as a woman in the music industry,” Corlin explains. “Some tracks have an intimate, introspective vibe, while others are more outspoken, inviting listeners to dance through their insecurities.”
