Alfreda’s ‘Frankie’ is a retro-fuelled exploration of lust & identity

Drawing inspiration from the glamorous era of the 70s, Alfreda’s latest track ‘Frankie’ delves into themes of lust, identity, and the blurred lines of self-perception. It’s a captivating blend of genres and emotions that showcases the London-based singer’s evolving artistry. Starting with an intimate, almost confessional tone reminiscent of John Lennon, the song gradually transforms into a lively disco anthem. This seamless transition highlights Alfreda’s ability to maintain cohesion while experimenting with various styles. The lyrics explore the concept of infatuation and the creation of an alter ego, ‘Frankie’, who embodies everything Alfreda imagines men desire. This playful narrative is tinged with irony, questioning the pressure to conform to prescribed roles for affection or approval.

The accompanying music video, directed by Stanley Dunmore, promises to bring the story of ‘Frankie’ to life visually. Alfreda’s residency at House of KOKO and her innovative Bedroom Tour further showcase her flair for merging music with performance art. With her growing attention from key tastemakers, Alfreda is establishing herself as a multifaceted artist who knows how to captivate her audience. ‘Frankie’ is a complete experience that leaves a lasting impression.

“Frankie is about the time I fell hard for someone (admittedly I hardly knew him), and then once when we bumped into each other he got my name wrong. I took this anecdote and have developed it into a sound bite where I become this ‘Frankie’. I become someone else and give in to everything I believe men want. Frankie is easy. Frankie is a good time girl. Frankie messes around and doesn’t get hurt”
