British-Nigerian artist Joshua Idehen tackles the weight of the world in his new single ‘All You Can Do Is Try’. Combining soulful vocals with a club-ready beat, the song offers a message of resilience in the face of adversity. Joshua’s spoken-word verses paint a picture of vulnerability and longing, reflecting on life’s challenges and the yearning for simpler times. Yet, the uplifting chorus, inspired by a supportive message from his partner, reminds listeners that effort, not outcome, defines us.
Euphoria-inducing keys, lively percussion, and the artist’s captivating voice create an irresistible groove. This fusion of poetry and club sounds feels natural, making the song both profound and danceable. This single is a strong follow-up to Joshua Idehen’s acclaimed mixtape Learn To Swim. Fans of his spoken-word poetry and soulful music will find much to love in ‘All You Can Do Is Try’.
“It was the first song we made after we finished the first project, Learn to swim. I was on a UK support tour when Ludvig sent this amazing beat which sounded to me like an expansion on the sounds from ‘I Got You Every Step Of The Way’ so it felt right to continue along the theme of self acceptance. Was trying out some chorus ideas when I found out on one of the tour nights I would be performing to two people. Sucked to hell, I’d been weirdly serene about at the time. I took a photo and texted it to my partner, with the words all you can do is try, and she responded “I promise that will be alright ” and ding! The chorus wrote itself.”
