Hey Frank Rabeyrolles thanks for taking the time to chat to us today, for this weeks CHATTERBOX feature. Huge congrats on releasing your new album ‘Minor Blue’, what influences have gone into your sound recently?
I don’t really focus on an artist or band, I listen a lot of 60’s Jazz, Modal jazz like Andrew Hill, Steve khun, Joe Henderson … And a lot of Song Writers/ Bands like Proper Ornement, Timber Timbre, Andy Shauf but I never try to imitate or sound like them
Any top tips for getting through writers block?
A cool week end in the mountains, a cool night having fun with your friends…
What is your favourite thing about being an artist?
I love taking time for creating, this is rare, a luxury and very important for me. Taking time to think, to write, to experiment without always been only focus on material life, job, family is the Graal Getting a space for creating, writing music, this is really my favourite thing.
Who would be a dream collaboration and why? Let’s manifest it.
In the past I wanted to collaborate with Robert Wyatt, in a dream Cat power, Vashti Bunyan, José Gonzalez
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
I have few gigs in France , I’d love to release a new EP in Sept 2024
A dream festival and stage to play on?
I’m more interested in small venues, club gigs than festivals in fact, I don’t really like playing outdoor
It ’s often difficult to feel the audience.
What are you calling in for 2024?
Would love to get more gigs, travel more for music, meet new and inspiring people and Beyond, Peace in Gaza and Ukraine…
