Following the romantic charm of ‘corvette’, SAPPHIRE’s new release ‘crisis’ is a vibrant addition to her growing discography. This dance-worthy pop bop, to feature on her upcoming test drive EP, draws inspiration from the coming-of-age TV series Heartstopper. The song encapsulates the whirlwind of new love, evoking the emotional spectrum that accompanies it, from the passionate longing during separation to the impulsive urge to deny true feelings. SAPPHIRE’s powerhouse vocals skillfully convey these emotions.
The track came to life after SAPPHIRE watched Heartstopper, with the lyric “having a crisis” circling her mind. It was created in a whirlwind studio session, reflecting the raw excitement of inspiration. ‘crisis’ aims to be the opening track to your cinematic romance, capturing the essence of a main character moment. Produced by Alex Stacey and mixed and mastered by Alawn, SAPPHIRE masterfully combines contemporary pop melodies with disco-pop beats, creating a fast-paced atmosphere reminiscent of on-screen romance.
“I was watching season 1 of ‘Heartstopper’ when I had the first idea for ‘crisis’. The lyric ‘having a crisis’ was circling my brain and I couldn’t sleep that night. Luckily, I had a studio session the following day… ‘crisis’ was created so fast because it was so fresh in my mind, and I literally spent the entire day in the studio smiling and squealing with excitement about it. I really wanted this song to feel like your main character moment, the opening track to your movie…so hopefully it makes you feel that way!”
