Introducing MONA, aka Nick Brown, the Tennessee-via-Ohio musician who writes songs touching on a myriad of topics through his rock’n’roll attitude. As was the case with so many creatives, this project was sparked by his experience of this covid-19 pandemic including the tragic loss of his mother; this led him to deeply contemplate life and emerge from that challenging time with a new perspective. As such, his music is about embracing life to the fullest.
You can hear Nick’s fascination with the cycles of life in his latest single ‘Nothing Is Dead’ which weighs up ego and humility, obsession and desire, competition and jealousy, and just about everything in between. It’s all about reflecting upon the polarities and the grey areas that shape our lives.
The artist’s dynamic sound and energetic approach to rock’n’roll, albeit with a slightly more contemporary sound, continue to captivate audiences. Nick’s multifaceted talents extend beyond his work with MONA, as he collaborates with artists across various genres. The future holds more exciting ventures for this projecy, including global touring and a significant role in Seattle rock icon Candlebox’s farewell tour, for which Nick co-wrote and featured on their final album.
You can check out the cinematic music video for ‘Nothing Is Dead’ below.
“Nothing Is Dead” addresses the concept of cycles. The ups & downs of life. Seasons. Birth, death rebirth… ego vs humility – true desire vs lonely obsession – healthy competition vs rotten jealousy. Or maybe it’s just a tune with no meaning crafted to apply whatever meaning you want … nah nvm. It’s about dualism. No, it’s not.”
