Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.
FatMatt: We are a singer/producer duo, actively writing since 2012. I handle all of the production on Ableton Live and play most of the instruments in the songs, Yannick writes the words and melodies and records the vocals. We also have a 9 – piece band (feat 3pt brass section) with which we have been playing shows in Brooklyn and Manhattan since 2014. The live show is super funky and fun.
We’ve been based out of our apartment in Bushwick for 2 years now, where we have a basement studio and a large rehearsal / performance space for the live band. We also throw some shows / parties down there too.
Where did the new single come from?
I had this girl in one of my college classes that I’m pretty sure had a crush on me and I definitely was crushing on her. But anyway she would always make sure I was on top of my work and would always gives me shit if I was falling behind or being lazy. But anyway yeah this girl was just down for me, believed in me, and had my back even when I was undeserving. She was that ride or die type. She was definitely the main inspiration for the track. Nothing ever became of it though. Some flowers are better left unpicked.
Is there more content in the pipeline?
Yes! We’ve been on the grind writing since dropping our album, building up a new collection of songs to choose from. We also should have some video releases this summer.
What’s on the horizon for you?
We’re planning to put together some short tours to visit and perform in cities other than NYC. We have a growing international fan base, especially in the U.K., Australia, and the Philippines, so it would be great if we could get out to some of those places for some shows too..
But we’re definitely going to take a trip across the USA and also aim to hit some of the festivals in 2018.
