Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.

My name’s Brooks Brown. I’m a 19-year-old music producer and DJ from Kansas City. I started producing around age 12 after I had taken guitar lessons for a couple of years. After a while, I wanted to get into the world of electronic music, something I had fallen in love with around that time. The future bass / trap influenced sound came about from my love for indie and alternative music, combined with a passion for synth-heavy pop music. I feel that the sound is constantly evolving.

Where did the new single come from?

The single came from a beat I had made that I felt needed a solid vocal. I approached Matt Kali after my friends and management at Sun Pop Music brought him up as a possible fit for the tune. After a session with him and including my own vocals on the second verse, I felt the song was complete and embodied a satisfyingly unique sound.

Is there more content in the pipeline?

Absolutely! I am writing a lot of music right now and plan to release more in the summer/fall timeframe. I’m really striving to venture out of my comfort zone creatively. I’m striving to craft a sound that genuinely draws from my favorite influences. Albeit, it might be a little different than what you’d usually hear from me.

What’s on the horizon for you?

I’d say a lot of writing. I will continue to play DJ sets and perform, but I’m going to kick my production and songwriting into overdrive as my first year in college winds down and I have some time away from the high energy environment of Los Angeles. I honestly enjoy the studio and the creative process more than anything, so I believe that those areas should be the focus of the next few months.
